Dakar 2017: seventh stage. The marathon stage.
After a day off we set out for a stage with shortened speed trial of 161 km. The stage was a combination of a part of the route of the original today's and tomorrow's stage. The special stretch was initially in the dunes, later in sandy terrain and finally the drivers had to overcome gravel, which actually became mud. Since this is a marathon stage, all the crews after arriving to bivouac remain without assistance and mechanics, being allowed to service their vehicles only by themselves.
Given these facts, we could not establish a connection with our guys, so up to this point we do not know what caused the Ales's delay in the first part of the marathon stage.
Tomorrow we are in for the stage from Uyuni to Salta, with a total length of 892 km, 492 km of which measured. If the stage has to be driven in its entire length, we will rise up to altitudes above 4,000 meters. By this stage we say goodbye to Bolivia and return to Argentina.
