The legendary Dakar Rally will be in South America for the fifth time. Three countries will host the rally teams: Peru, Argentina, Chile. It is held from January 5 to January 20, 2013. For the first time the competitors will have to cross the desert at the beginning of the route. After the capital of Peru Lima the rally teams will get in the heart of unpredictable conditions and challenges that will test their trucks and team spirit. They will have a day in San Miguel to prepare for the huge distance of 8,000 km.

Countries: Peru, Argentina, Chile

Peru: the desert at start

Even the Dakar 2012 competitors were afraid of Peru with its tough conditions and routes. In 2013, the Peruvian part of the rally will be noted for the endless sand dunes, deep sand and red-hot sun. Pilots and their crews are going to have many troubles, which will test their team spirit, but add more colors to the rally, increase the intensity of struggle for the leadership, and bring unpredictable positions of the favorites and outsiders.

Argentina: the pilot’s factor

The Andes Mountains crossed and Chile visited, competitors will meet another South America, with smiling face only to skillful and flexible pilots. In Argentina, ability to adopt and change the driving style according to the conditions are the key factors to success. Despite the sand territory is not long, the Gaucho country will not be invincible obstacle only for the true masters of desert driving.

Chile: two in one

Two different episodes in Chile will be crucial. The Atacama Desert will require applying all the navigation skills. The second Chile’s episode will test the trucks of the Dakar competitors. The heaviest road conditions will stand behind the back of every rally team to the finish, in the capital of Chile Santiago.
